Before you hit Publish: an upload checklist

A short checklist to run through before publishing a video.

  1. Title: clear, honest and specific. Say what the viewer will get.
  2. Description: the first lines matter most. Say what the video covers and add relevant links.
  3. Thumbnail: readable at small size, one focal point, matches the video.
  4. Playlist: put it with related videos.
  5. Audience: answer the audience question honestly for this video.
  6. Rights: confirm you own or have permission for everything in the video, including music.
  7. Visibility: private, unlisted, public or scheduled.
  8. Review: watch the first minute and the end once more before publishing.
